Alfred's New Ramblings

Project Management artifacts

Always do the right thing, even if it is not required or unless you have an iron-clad waiver. Two project managers are running different phases of a larger program. One PM for the application migration went through without a design or test document.

I was doing the VM migration as part of Infra As A Service (IAAS), moving customer’ VMs from one host to another. This is as simple as it gets. At the last minute, I got hit for where are the end customer approved design documents, implementation and test plans. I was like, huh? you want a design document for a move between hosts? Migration cancelled.

I want to ask what about the other guy, right? There may be other forces within the customer’s organization that you will never be in the loop, inter department politics etc.

Suck thumb and learn from this. What about-ism? It won’t help because it is a basic fundamental.
