Downgrading my Android phone

Downgrading my Android phone custom rom. I installed it with PixelOS 18 Feb 25 build. All was good.

In June, I upgraded to the last build for Android 15, 10 Apr 25. After some days, I noticed that I keep missing WhatsApp calls. Some apps eg Forest with power savings disabled was sleeping. Runkeeper is lagging when tracking my runs.

The new version with its aggressive power savings may not be a good thing and I have decided to down grade to the older Feb version. The rule of thumb doing this is dirty flash upgrade, but clean flash downgrade.

I thought I try an experiment with dirty flash downgrade. Unfortunately, it would not boot. Clearing the cache gave the same result. In the end, I have to clean flash to get it to boot.

Nice things about the 10 Apr build is the combined quick setting buttons for Do Not Disturb in the Modes button.

Update 23 Aug 25

After the downgrade, I noticed when 2 SIMS are inserted, I can’t get data. In JB, TPG performance was unstable. I have to use my Poco M3 as a Wifi hotspot. A real buzz kill.

The TPG’s APN was named wrongly. It was set as SIMBA instead of TPG. Perhaps this was the cause of the performance issues. The no data when 2 SIMs was a user problem, me. The slide to enable Mobile data doesn’t work for dual SIMs, I have to scroll down to “Your Primary SIMs” to select the Mobile data and choose which SIM to use.
