Syncthing

Syncthing is a program that enables you to, sync things. This is useful for sharing files of any kind between an Android phone and a computer, between two Android devices or computers.

I am writing this as a post so that I can remember how to set up my two Android phones, the Poco X3 and Nothing 3a. There are two main tabs, Folders and Devices. Multiple folders can be assigned to a device.

  1. Install Syncthing on both phones.
  2. On each phone, add the other phone by scanning QR code. Start on one phone and display the phone id. On the second phone, add the first phone by scanning the QR code.
  3. Switch the phones around and repeat adding phones.
  4. Wait for the phones to be in sync before continuing.
  5. In my case, I am sending files from one phone to another. In the sending phone, select the Folders tab, select the source folder, set the folder type (Send) and save.
  6. On the receiving phone, check the notification list, there should be a prompt to add the sending phone folder. Select the destination folder and save.
  7. Do a test by taking a photo.

What happens if any phone is replaced? It is easier re-setup by deleting the contents of the source and destination folders.
