This is the first time I participated for the U Run and OMB.\u00a0 My first competitive 10km race in nearly a decade.\u00a0 The past few years I have been running half marathons or 21km.\u00a0 10km is much faster in pace.<\/p>\n
The starting time was a late 7am on the Marina Floating Platform.\u00a0 Runners were flagged in batches as the pedestrian bridge to the F1 pits is very narrow.\u00a0 The sun was hiding behind the clouds but it still made a steamy morning.\u00a0 There were a few walkers, while I have contend with a persistent shin cramp.<\/p>\n
By the time the cramp dissipated, I was in the final stretch of 1km.\u00a0 The run round the waterfront of the Marina Bay was very scenic.\u00a0 Something I have never done.<\/p>\n
The climb up One Marina Boulevard was interesting.\u00a0 It wasn’t very tough, 30 storeys, with flights of steps about 25% longer than a HDB.\u00a0 What is tough is another 100+ people huffing and puffing in the cramp fire escape.\u00a0 The heat and the humidity in the first 10 floors were nearly unbearable.<\/p>\n
