{"id":2076,"date":"2013-04-01T14:34:37","date_gmt":"2013-04-01T06:34:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.alfredivy.per.sg\/blogger\/?p=2076"},"modified":"2014-04-21T22:37:36","modified_gmt":"2014-04-21T14:37:36","slug":"google-play-update-cannot-download-due-to-error-413","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.alfredivy.sg\/blogger\/2013\/04\/google-play-update-cannot-download-due-to-error-413\/","title":{"rendered":"Google Play: Update cannot download due to error 413"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>During the Easter weekend, I encountered an error while trying to update Evernote.\u00a0 Originally I thought it was due to the 3G connection.\u00a0 Going by Wi Fi I got the same result.\u00a0 The rest of my apps I could uninstall and reinstall with no problems.\u00a0 I put it on the back burner thinking that it was a Google Play issue.<\/p>\n<p>Today (Mon 1 Apr), I tried to update again with the same problem.\u00a0 According to the Evernote user reviews, there were other people with no problems installing and updating.\u00a0 Hmmm.\u00a0 my Lemon expense app have a similar 413 problem too.\u00a0 See below.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.alfredivy.sg\/blogger\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Screenshot_2013-04-06-18-34-14.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-2086\" title=\"Screenshot_2013-04-06-18-34-14\" alt=\"Google Play Update  error 413\" src=\"http:\/\/www.alfredivy.sg\/blogger\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Screenshot_2013-04-06-18-34-14-296x494.png\" width=\"296\" height=\"494\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.alfredivy.sg\/blogger\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Screenshot_2013-04-06-18-34-14-296x494.png 296w, https:\/\/www.alfredivy.sg\/blogger\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Screenshot_2013-04-06-18-34-14-112x188.png 112w, https:\/\/www.alfredivy.sg\/blogger\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Screenshot_2013-04-06-18-34-14.png 480w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 296px) 100vw, 296px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Time to get cracking.<\/p>\n<p>So after gathering all the tips from the Internet, I have done the following:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Cleared Play Store app updates, Clear Data and Cache.<\/li>\n<li>Cleared Google Play Services and\u00a0 Data.<\/li>\n<li>Cleared Google Services Framework and Data (&lt;Never do this, here is why\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/Android\/comments\/1r1n5z\/psa_do_not_clear_data_for_google_service_framework\/cdiymrp\" target=\"_blank\">link<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>Cleared Download Manager\u00a0 and Downloads.<\/li>\n<li>Reboot to Recovery and cleared the cache.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>All this to no success.\u00a0 I checked with Twitter friend <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/richxiong\" target=\"_blank\">@richxiong<\/a>, he suggested this <a href=\"http:\/\/forum.xda-developers.com\/showthread.php?t=1567456\" target=\"_blank\">thread.<\/a>\u00a0 I checked my APN settings and it was set to MiWorld WAP (GPRS).\u00a0 A quick switch to M1&#8217;s Sunsurf Internet, the apps swiftly downloaded and installed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.alfredivy.sg\/blogger\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Screenshot_2013-04-06-18-34-42.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-2088\" title=\"Screenshot_2013-04-06-18-34-42\" alt=\"Android APN settings\" src=\"http:\/\/www.alfredivy.sg\/blogger\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Screenshot_2013-04-06-18-34-42-296x494.png\" width=\"296\" height=\"494\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.alfredivy.sg\/blogger\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Screenshot_2013-04-06-18-34-42-296x494.png 296w, https:\/\/www.alfredivy.sg\/blogger\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Screenshot_2013-04-06-18-34-42-112x188.png 112w, https:\/\/www.alfredivy.sg\/blogger\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Screenshot_2013-04-06-18-34-42.png 480w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 296px) 100vw, 296px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In summary, if you encountered an error 413 while trying to update\/install an app from Google Store, this is most likely due to your phone Internet settings or APN.\u00a0 The app contains an installation pre-requisite that a 3G or faster connection.<\/p>\n<p>The change in APN settings, was most likely caused by me testing AntTek Quick Settings app (for some pseudo CM10.1 goodness).<\/p>\n<p>Update 12 Aug 13<\/p>\n<p>Another possible reason for this error is that you have multiple accounts configured on your Phone and Play Store does not know which to use. \u00a0Inside Play, check Settings&gt;
