According to Wiki, UCWEB is the number 1 browser for handphones in the Chinese market. \u00a0About 60 million users in the month of Nov 08.<\/p>\n

With a user base this big, I got to try it out on my Nokia E71.<\/p>\n

UCWEB works\u00a0 similar to Opera Mini, it accesses the Internet via a proxy. \u00a0The proxy is located in China.\u00a0 If you are using it with free WiFi providers that requires authentication, you will need to use the default Nokia browser to complete the initial setup.<\/p>\n

The home page<\/p><\/div>\n

UCWeb is a highly customizable browser. Its key point is the ability to render a webpage for the small screen. \u00a0Graphics are compressed and the text re-aligned for easy vertical scrolling. \u00a0There is never a need to scroll horizontally. The home page comes with collapsible sections where there are popular links. There are tabbed browsing similar to desktop browsers, but they called it Windows.<\/p>\n

There are several menus accessible via the softkey Select. At the same time you can call up the same screen using the keyboard shortcuts, “m” for \u00a0Start Page, “w” for Bookmarks etc. See screenshots below.<\/p>\n
