{"id":4000,"date":"2017-05-21T18:35:58","date_gmt":"2017-05-21T10:35:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.alfredivy.per.sg\/blogger\/?p=4000"},"modified":"2017-07-09T22:17:33","modified_gmt":"2017-07-09T14:17:33","slug":"waze-making-sense-traffic-maze","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.alfredivy.sg\/blogger\/2017\/05\/waze-making-sense-traffic-maze\/","title":{"rendered":"Waze, making sense of the traffic maze"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I saw on MBKHD G+ post about using Waze to beat traffic stops and congestions. \u00a0So I thought hmm, why not give a try.<\/p>\n<p>Waze is a community-based driving navigation app. \u00a0It was bought over by Google in 2013. \u00a0Google Maps takes the traffic congestion info from the app as input. \u00a0I have used it before a year or two ago, \u00a0but I found the UI lacking and uninstalled. \u00a0This time round, the UI looks better. \u00a0I can add Favourites and timed drives! \u00a0Timed or scheduled drives are for upcoming journeys. \u00a0It will alert you when to leave, much like Google Now. \u00a0It also can send via SMS or Whatsapp an ETA. \u00a0This requires manual activation.<\/p>\n<p>So far it works and tries to guide me the fastest route. \u00a0The problem is that some routes flagged as slow and I found to be clear. \u00a0For example, I was trying to go to Hougang mall, Waze thinks that the road in front, Hougang Ave 10 is congested. \u00a0It kept insisting on going by the major road \u00a0Upper Serangoon road. \u00a0Except that I am at Hougang Ave 4, just a few lights away.<\/p>\n<p>Another strange thing Waze does not work with Bluetooth ear piece seamlessly.<\/p>\n<p>In summary, it works, but sometimes the congestion avoidance can be better.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=com.waze\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Waze<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I saw on MBKHD G+ post about using Waze to beat traffic stops and congestions. \u00a0So I thought hmm, why not give a try.
