There is a good chance you will not be successful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\">Backup your Signal chats.<\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Go to Signal Settings, Chats, Chats Backup, Turn on<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Choose the folder to keep the backup.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Copy the 30-digit passphrase and keep it safe.  Without this passphrase or key, the backup file cannot be opened.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Restoring your Signal chats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Restore can only be done on the first-time launch of the app.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensure the file is located on the device.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select &#8220;Transfer or restore account&#8221;, located at the bottom edge.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the restore backup file.  Using only the Android OS&#8217;s file browser inside the Signal app.  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you select a third-party app eg Explorer, you will get an error &#8220;Backup could not be read&#8221;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter the 30-digit passphrase that you have previously saved.  If you don&#8217;t have it, you will not be able to restore it.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>As you can see, you have a passphrase and a backup file you need to keep track of.
