I will skip the long long paragraphs on how smartphones, WhatsApp and Google applications play an intricate part in our lives. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the app, Recent Activity, there is a very long list of files “Waiting for upload” to Google Drive. Each file has a spinning hourglass, name and X to cancel. Pressing on the individual file X to cancel has no effect. Viewing Google Drive from the browser shows the files are already uploaded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The usual tricks of force stop the app, restarting the phone, turning off wireless etc did not help. Google searches turn up suggestions to clear data. I can’t clear data as the original WhatsApp groups have long been deleted. This will cause me to lose my uploads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So I sat down and went through the upload queue and using a computer, manually checked the contents of each file. It appears all of them are uploaded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I cleared the Google Drive app cache only. The hourglass icon changed to a snapshot of the files. The queue disappeared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
