Migrating the customer from one Data Center to another. Straightforward stuff, except they are not interested<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>The current DC is closing, services will be migrated, and the entire floor will be returned to the DC operator. This customer&#8217;s point of view: I didn&#8217;t want to move, you wanted it, this is your problem, you fix it. Any hard migration costs, eg Telco, movers etc you pay for it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No matter how big the customer is, I can&#8217;t see them doing the same thing to Azure, AWS or GCS.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From the PM&#8217;s point of view, the communication with the customer is like Sisyphus. &#8220;Yes, we told you x times in y meetings we are closing&#8221;. For some strange reason, the CIO was kept out of the loop or playing oblivious. &#8220;Oh, we were not informed!&#8221; What was the PIC doing all this time? They were stalling, waiting for a chance to resolve this by bullying the vendor, us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Quite surprising coming from an organization that takes prides in its reputation for excellent project management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I was driving a project with a strange dynamic.
