The toilet sinks stoppers have been irritating me for years. It uses a cross bar to lift and lower the sink stopper. The previous helper broke the mechanism in the kitchen toilet. Due to a hole, the water sometimes empties on to the floor instead of down the waste pipe. The master bedroom toilet sink stopper cross bar attracts hair like flypaper.
I have put up with it as the kitchen toilet has a sink stand. A porcelain shield to cover the under sink pipes. The stand runs from the bottom edge of the sink to tiled floor and silicone in place. I started looking for possible replacement parts for the broken mechanism. The hardware store salesperson said there are no spare parts for these and none available as a set. The only available type is the push button on the sink stopper.
After a few days thinking over, I decided to try out the replacement of the kitchen toilet sink stopper. Chemical silicone remover made quick work removing the sink stand. The sink stopper, sink tailpiece and U trap came out easily. The sink tailpiece has adjustable length so I don’t have to worry about difference in the length matching the new sink stopper and the waste pipe. Nice!
Using a pair of groove joint pliers, fasten the new sink stopper, the tail piece. The tail piece, U trap are plastic pipes, as one Youtuber said “Plastic pipes, no need to go Superman on them”
Silicone close the hole in the tap where the old sink stopper lifter used to come out. Silicone the sink stand back in place and ban everyone from wetting the floor for a day.
Repeat the same for the master bedroom toilet sink.
