Review

All right folks this is my documentation on getting my Palm IIIx working with my T39m, a General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) phone with Wireless Access Protocol (WAP) and Bluetooth capability.  This is a  GSM (900/1800/1900) phone that handles data better. Older GSM phones handle data through the GSM network at a measely 9600 baud.

Here are the steps:

  1. Turn on the GPRS with your phone company.  In my case, M1.
  2. Follow the instructions from M1 to configure your T39 and Palm.  They called in Mobilenet. Not to be confused with the WAP service, MI World.  Note you can run WAP over GPRS, which makes surfing with hand phone more user friendly.

Normally, you do not have configure the WAP portion for your handphone. The link will guide you on how to configure the phone and Palm for WAP surfing.

    3.    Configure your choice of browser for your Palm.  I have used Palmscape.  You can use the configuration guide available here.  Note the rest of web contains info about Starhub's trial GPRS service.  This is quite old and may not be correct.

    4.    Enter your webpage URL into Palmscape and you are done !!!

Alternatively, you can download the Eudora Internetsuite 2.1 from Eudora.  The browser component, EudoraWeb works perfectly fine.  There are no graphics though.  But it makes surfing much more snappier.
